I am writing this on behalf of my wife Anne who had emergency surgery 6 months ago to have a Stomer. Yesterday, she had major surgery for Ovarian Cancer and the Stomer was reversed. It went well. Thinking back 6 months , Anne had just started Chemotherapy and a blockage occurred which lead to the Stomer being fitted. The surgery was an ileostomy. Unfortunately, she could have done without this added complication and she was in Hospital for 3 weeks (2 weeks in ICU). The Stomer took some getting used to but the biggest challenge was what she could and could not eat. Still she managed and had a lot of support from the Stomer Clinical staff. Initially, the Heath hospital Cardiff, arranged for the supplies to come from Coloplast in Peterborough. Unfortunately, we found them not to be reliable and we were given a new supplier Respond based in Cardiff. We asked for a more local supplier which of course makes sense. The difference between the two suppliers was remarkable. We have found Respond to be helpful and really reliable. 100% Excellent Well done to everyone at Respond Cardiff Anne’s surgery yesterday went well and hopefully, the cancer was removed but more Chemotherapy will be given. A good result for us.
